Meet Kaleb! Kaleb is a happy, resilient, brave 7-year old boy who was born with a rare syndrome called OEIS (omaphalocele, extrophy of bladder, imperforate anus, spinal defect) that is 1 in every 400,000 births. By looking at Kaleb you would never know he has this terrible birth defect that has been described by doctor as the most severe birth defect to have and still be compatible with life. Kaleb was born at 29 weeks and spent the first six months of his life in the hospital, entered foster care and his current home when he was 15 months and then later adopted. He has undergone more than 40 procedures and more than ten major surgeries in his life with more expected in the future. He now has to travel to NYC (ten hours from his home) to see his main specialists and has had to be there many times in the past year for his most recent major surgery. He endures a daily medical routine with patience and understanding although he would love to live like any other normal little boy. He loves to watch all of the Disney Kids on Disney Channel, doing puzzles and playing his video games. He really loves to watch sports and help his dad in the yard and garden. Some day he would love a job in farming or sports. With all his daily issues and medical appointments he would love the opportunity to have his own basketball playing area.
