Meonna

Meonna, a lively 10-year old little girl, was diagnosed with Febrile Infection-related Epilepsy Syndrome (FIRES) when she was only 5 years old. When she first started kindergarten, she was excited to meet new friends and always loved to be at school. Unfortunately, one month after starting, she suddenly developed Grand Mahl seizures which started after she was sent home from school with a fever. Her frequent seizures worsened, and she was placed in a medically-induced coma. After 3 long weeks, she was awoken from her coma and started her journey to healing! Five years later, she is doing well and making huge strides in her recovery although she still suffers from seizures and memory loss. Meonna is no longer wheelchair bound, her trache and g-tube have been removed, and her medication has been cut down significantly. Her wish in her own words is to “meet all the Disney princesses and sleep in a big princess bed in their princess castle.” She would also like to “dress up pretty so she can have a tea cup party.”
