Abner

Abner was born July 20, 2007. He was diagnosed with cerebellar atrophy in August of 2009. Some of his limitations include not being able to walk without assistance (walker, crutches motorized wheelchair). He has difficulty with his speech which causes problems communicating at times. He has a slight learning delay. Abner has been attending therapy two to three times a week since he’s been 18 months old. He’s also been attending 2 different programs at the Children’s Institute every six months for 3-5 weeks at a time for the last 2 years. Despite all of that, Abner is a very happy energetic boy. He’s extremely smart and knowledgeable when it comes to a variety of many animals like dinosaurs, birds, alligators, elephants, etc. When Abner grows up he wants to work at a museum or the zoo. Abner’s dream is to visit the safari at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to see all the animals. His favorite characters are Lightning McQueen and Mator from Cars and he hopes to meet them there!
